Last sarge I went out on I approached a five set. All were warm but the alpha female who immediately told her bf I was from a different university to them. There's a half serious/ usually banter thing between our universities. He asked me if I went to this university threateningly I said yes, he then asked again really aggressively and I said "yer I do, I just want to talk to these girls though". Then he punched me hard in the eye. Got him banned from the club, but didn't decide to press charges. How do I deal with a situation like that in the future? (He was also quite drunk).

ignore him or tell him to stop acting like a baby. This may have been one of those times where it just kind of happened. I wouldn't let this experience get to you.

Don't let it bother you, you will get these Neanderthal types wherever you go and if you are the type of guy that goes for girls and isn't scared to approach, you will sometimes find negative confrontation.
On a side note deal learn some martial arts.

Forget the "how to deal" part. Instead, how can you avoid a bad situation? I mean ask yourself, how would you act, to avoid the situation end up like that, simply by talking to him? And that is, how you should play your game around these douchebags.
