HEY HEY! I am writing this with DrD sitting next to me! Tonight was our second night out infield and we thought we would document this, to help us break down each situation and track our progress.

So the night started, we met up with a few friends, had a couple of drinks and this is where I made my first approach. I left to get a drink and saw a cute Asian girl looking at the drinks menu. I asked her what was good on the menu and a convo started from there. I realized she didn't speak English very well, so I exited because I realized it would be hard to convey the same meaning.

Afterwards we left our friends and went to a different venue, filled....FILLED...with many HBs. We were so anxious! Still getting past our AA, we chatted and tried to figure it out. We went to a rooftop bar and asked for some seats, and the two set basically opened us! "Thats $5" they said and the convo went from there, until they closed off because they wanted to dance. It was great though, there was a great vibe, and we were testing them on who they knew! Things just petered out.

Eventually DrD became restless and approached a 3 set seated on high stools, with a fairly open positioning. He opened with a convoluted opinion opener about a friend who just got dumped. He went on to ask 'What brings you guys here today' and that killed the convo, he ejected. He then, after learning that we should have our opinion openers go somewhere, ran straight into another set. This 2 set was seated very similarly, but with the opener 'my friend thinks you're cute' he was shut down straight away. Turns out, these two girls were on a date together.

We wandered around for a bit and I was getting frustrated at myself for not opening anyone while DrD was buzzing. After failing to open a set (3 second rule really counts) DrD went for another set!!!!! I was shocked! This time, a 3 set, the girls were loitering at a bar. He pulled the 'Who likes more' opener with something to follow it up and ground it about a friend's recent relationship experience. I watched in shock as he dominated the situation. I turned around and they were gone and DrD was standing next to me. They went off to meet friends.

NOW IT WAS MY TURN! I instantly turned around approached a seated 2 Set with the 'Who lies more' opener and something to back it up with. It sucked though, I approached the one girl in the bar who had just broken up with her BF for 6 years. I could have turned it around but I got stuck in the 'THAT MUST HAVE SUCKED' frame! DrD entered, and we both ejected. I had killed it!


Lessons learned:

- We now know, both as a team and separately how to approach a set (on a limited list) into A1 but not how to get it to A2.
- AA is a bitch, but after a first approach it gets easier.
- We need more routines to follow up an opener
- We need to keep going, rather than eject quickly, even if we are not sure where we are going, to learn!

DrD thinks that confidence and delivery is paramount.

Thoughts? Tips?

So tonight I was invited to a fashion party with the blog I do work with, and I brought along a friend, lets call her BB, who is an Ex, along to this party. At these events you don't normally need to open sets because everybody wants to mingle. The problem with bringing BB to these parties is she latches on to women and they lock men out as they discuss things. As the party went on I noticed one of the girls I had met previously was giving me 'open me eyes' so I directed BB to a dress near by. Immediately this girl, lets call her Beauty, because she is the editor of the beauty section of the Blog, immediately turned the group around to talk to us and discuss the dress.

As the convo went on, BB was the best wing ever. She locked the other girls in a convo as she did allowing me to side step with Beauty, and we talked solidly and exchanged numbers wanting to catch up over coffee. Her friends even got bored and sat down some where else while Beauty and I spoke. I tried to bounce with her to show her a near by store I liked but she was confused by it haha. I realise I don't need to build comfort via location changes as I have met her before.

My problem is I am pretty sure I have a fair idea to do with attraction past the hook point, I just need to have that hook point thing mastered!
