Get on with it. You're on your own, so have a decent conversation. If you're not good at it, you will never get a pickup (unless you look like a model). Most guys can't get past the above part, so you already have a head start. Remember, if you fail at this point, it's all your fault. She doesn't really have a boyfriend and she isn't really that busy. You just didn't impress her with your conversation, that's all. Get better and try again.

I would suggest adding more to your questions and answers.. for instance, instead of jumping straight to the next question, say a followup comment. i.e., what do you study? I am studying to become a nurse. say something witty about nursing or how you were thinking about going into the medical field yourself or something
a little playful teasing also goes a long way - so it doesnt seem like an interrogation. I've always found that I am more into the conversation if the guy is teasing me and playful
