I want to direct game this girl in a large lecture setting. I can't really do the normal shoot the shit/DHV with knowledge of the subject stuff you might do with a girl in a class because this is one of those big 100+ student lectures.

I'm thinking of just walking up, sitting down right next to her, and (as smoothly/alpha as possible) ask for her name then her number.

Suggestions on how to go about this?

Sit next to her - rip out a piece of paper after a while in class (if she looks bored). Draw a tic-tac-toe game, make a move, hand it to her - you could write "Bored?" or "Game On" next to it if you want. Since you made the first move, you will either win or tie. You can do this one game and than just be like "You need to work on your game, maybe next time."

I would not push so much the first class, give her a little tease and than just go back to focusing in class - if that sparked her interest, than she'll try to talk to you some more, if not than wait till next class to bring up a convo.
