Was going to approach a girl I saw at the bus stop, but she was wearing Dre beat headphones. Just wondering if there are any interruptions you could use. Not sure I was happy if I was interrupted listening to music. Obviously, whatever I said would have to be more entertaining than the music itself, which already puts one under more pressure?

I see her all the time. Had she taken them off at any point I would have said something like "your new hair style really suits you. I would have told you earlier but you was too busy listening to Justin bieber".

But they never came off. Not for the entire journey.

Turn your obstacle into your opener, ask her where she got them from and say you've been looking for a pair and where you can get them from, when she suggests a place say "I'm really crap with directions, since you give such good advice, where's the nearest place?" - into "oh cool, I know where that is, its near the X, right?" Then possibly find a funny story you can associate with that place. And then you're into rapport

Bus stop was in front of a cash converter. In the window there were about 5 Dre beat headphones. That would be awkward lol.

This is my favorite way to approach by far. They know how intimidating they are in headphones and it shows you just don't give a shit and you know you're cooler than the music. I did this last time:

(tap on the shoulder)
HB: (stunned, takes her headphones out)
Me: "If I didn't stop you and say hey I would be questioning my sexuality." (I don't recommend this line unless it falls in line with your personality... but definitely something direct)
HB: "Oh..." (still doesn't know what to say)
Me: "What are you listening to?"
HB: "ummm Taylor Swift" (or whatever dumb music)
Me: "Oh wow. That's embarrassing. I showed up just in time then."

Number closed in about 7 minutes.

Then you just talk. I like going direct. Less work. Asking where she got her headphones would work but since those Dre headphones are so popular I think she'd know you were just looking for an excuse to talk. Maybe ask her if those headphones live up to the hype.

Either way I think you have a lot of margin for error. Approaching a girl with headphones demonstrates serious confidence. I almost never come away without a number in this approach.

Teasing her about her music is the route I would have gone down.

What I would do is try to get myself in her field of vision. Once she notices me in the corner of her eye, I'll smile and gesture with one hand a motion that looks like I'm taking off an earphone. Girls get the idea and take their earphones off 100% of the time

If getting her to notice me is difficult, then I'll lightly nudge her, then do the gesture again, always smiling.

Well, you know... *gives her an awkward look. I just thought I would say something as I see you pretty much all the time and we are practically best friends now.

"Yeah, we are proper bus buddies, aren't we" *big smile*

Yup, means you have no excuse to ignore me next time I see you.

"I won't!"

Then I just walk off and say bye, with a smile.

My friend said I was terrible. "It's not even 9:30 and you're chatting girls up!!".

I only wanted to open. Step at a time. So opening is my main goal for the time being as that has been the thing I always struggled with. I'm naturally good from then on in. But approchaing, I definitely struggle - or have struggled.
