I noticed that a female pickup artist, could be very similar to an Emotionally Manipulative Woman. I know the traits of an EMW, and if anyone out there knows about EMW traits, you’ll see the problem in distinguishing from an EMW and a female pua. Just for an example, both would come across as being very independent, not display any neediness or jealousy, and would aim to get the guy to do anything for them.

So how to know the difference? There are more books about how to get men than there are about how to get women, so don't be naive about female pua's! Male ones would use pua to fuck as much as possible (likely), and tend to shout out to as many people about fucking and pick-up... but a female pua one would use pick-up on a guy they want a relationship from, and don't brag about knowing pick-up, as they want to keep their "honour" and not look slutty, which is why they are probably more unknown. There are plenty of girls who have read books...!

I’ve been with an EMW before, and I’ve met a female pua who told me some things that she’d do to get a man. I cannot help but see they are very similar. Obviously, an EMW does things for different REASONS. An EMW would not display neediness as she is competitive and wants the guy to display neediness because she is desperate, wants attention and is manipulative. The female pua would not display neediness as well, however, this is because if she does, it will lower her value. Same outcome, but different reasons.

How do you know if the girl you're seeing is a pua (and not getting her confused with a EMW)

There's really no such thing as female pickup artists, at least not straight ones. A female pua would just be a slutty girl, nothing more. Are you suggesting that there are women out there who study pick up and try to sleep with as many guys as they can or learn to pick up strange men using official pick up strategies like openers, dhv, negs, and closes?

I am suggesting that there could be girls who study pick not to be slutty, but merely to get the one guy, and act in certain ways to get the guy, and make him never leave. Make him in love and make him do everything for her. All girls claim that they want this, so if there are books out there telling girls to act in certain ways then why wouldn't they?

I am not saying being a female pua works! I am saying they could still try to use certain techniques and act in certain ways to get and keep a guy.

Just like the way guys does things that make themselves more attractive, then end up in a relationship, and still keep to the alpha male stance in the relationship, a woman could use her techniques on a man....

In theory I agree. Also keep in mind that pick up is for picking up people, not maintaining an ongoing relationship with them. It can help a little with that, but it's mainly about initiating attraction in order to have sex. Anything from the morning after onward is in a new realm altogether. But I digress.

Women will use their looks and other DHV-related things to attract and keep men. But this doesn't mean they are pickup artists. The same way that AFCs will do things to get women that pua's also do. But they don't even realize it's pickup that they are doing. And what does a woman have to do to keep a man. Just take care of her body and treat her man well. While men are often expected to do all that as well as provide her a certain lifestyle (i.e. spend money on her).

Don't get me wrong, I've seen women talk about guys they like and try to "go after" them, but usually they just single the guy out and flirt with him. Rarely would you find a woman going out to malls or clubs with the sole intent on finding Mr. Right and employing pua tactics to get him. Sure, girls will go out with the intention to get laid, but all they have to do is show up somewhere and act slutty and go home with whichever guy they decide upon. In my opinion that is not pick up.
