Last weekend I was at my usual bar spot, and my roommate and I are standing at the bar. Bartender gives us a leftover shot, and pours a third for a girl sitting alone. Easy opener.
So we get to talking, joking around about her height (she was short), got her and her sister to believe I was 19. It was going alright, we move away from the bar a bit and continue conversation. Things get a bit dry and my head wanders around the bar, at which point the girl I was talking to says, "If you want to go talk to them, go do it." I was a little taken back, so I just said, "What?". She said she saw me staring at a group of girls, and said I should go talk to them. To this I replied, "The night is still young."
I got annoyed by this statement, and actually backed off from her a bit. In the end, I did end up talking to the girls she said I was staring at. But what was her reason for saying that? I'm thinking she was either trying go get me to leave her alone (although I wasn't getting that vibe), or she was shy and self-conscience and didn't quite know how to react to me becoming disinterested. She seemed like a shy girl who doesn't go the bars often, and her sister had dragged her out that night. Any other explanations?
