I'm reading the book "the mystery method" In the book, when we approach a single set, an opener is given:"I wanted to find out if there was more to you than meets the eye." I think this open clearly conveys your interest to the girl, do you think it is a good opener? Since the first thing to do when opening a set is to disqualify yourself from being considered a potential suitor by her. But the example above clearly conveys that you are interested in her. Any ideas?

It's different, because you aren't qualifying yourself to her, you're qualifying her to yourself. You're basically baiting her to prove herself to you. There's nothing wrong with conveying interest, direct game is built on it.
