I was 18 (now 22) and though he was interested at first, my AFCness made him lose interest. Now, after these years we VERY BRIEFLY reconnected and we've decided to meet up for coffee or dinner. I froze a bit and suggested a vegetarian chinese restaurant (we're both vegetarian). Not sure if this was bad or good, but I can always say I'm too busy to commit to dinner, and change the plan to something less structured.
Anyway, I want to know if this is a good date idea or if I should do something better. Right now we have about 8 inches of snow and it's a bit cold, so it can't be outdoors the whole time.
I was thinking a hot yoga class (but I know he's better at it than me, so I might be out of my element), rock wall climbing, or the vegetarian chinese restaurant. Maybe a bookstore first? I can say I need help picking a new book (he really likes giving book advice, I know this from when we used to talk).
He told me he's been having a rough time lately ("life is a roller coaster lately and I think I puked") and I really want him to have a good time, even if he's not interested in me. He might not even be single, I'd actually be content with being friends with him.
So, what can I do? Any advice would be welcome!

But there are some things that apply to people generally regardless of sexual preference. And that is that people don't like boring things. A vegeterian chinese restaurant sounds quite boring to me. Try something more active. Ice-skating for example, if there's snow, I assume you could do that. The most important is that find something that both of you are interested in, and is somewhat an active thing to do. That will make sure that both of you will have a good time. Peace.
