Hey, I was wondering how you use musical talent help you with your game. I am still in school (Im 17) and therefore I meet most girls at parties where there is usually a guitar lying around (I am a guitarist). Just to clarify, I am a very good guitarist (not only for my age, I usually outplay people who are in their 30s and 40s with relative ease) and a mediocre singer (I can stay in tune, my voice is relatively strong because I do vocal exercises, but I'm no Marvin Gaye).

I inevitably end up playing guitar at some point in the night which results in a group of guys who are completely in awe 90% of the time. The problem is the girls seem relatively unfazed by it. They ask how long I've been playing, say I'm really good etc. but they don't have that 'holy shit you're good' look on their face that most guys or other musicians have.

The music I play is usually soul/RnB or Blues. I always make sure it's pretty mellow (I would understand why girls wouldn't like it if I was shredding lol) but impressive/hard at the same time

How should I use my guitar-playing to help my game???

Should I just not do it, or play sing-along pop songs or something?

By the way, to avert the inevitable shit-storm of 'you're such an arrogant dick' I would like to note that usually I'm really modest but just for clarity I'm telling you that I AM good. Usually I would just say something like 'yeah Im alright' and then play for you but clearly that isn't going to happen

Thanks, and sorry for the long-winded post

Try this. Don't use your musical talents as the focal point behind your game. Don't even mention it, and even hide it. Then when you finally get a girl alone and it comes up that you play guitar, you can bust it out and she'll be so impressed at how talented you are. It's a passtive approach instead of an active approach.

Thing is dude, lots of guys play guitars and like to show off how good they are so in a girl's mind it may easily just become a cliched male pissing-up-the-wall contest.

If you want to use it to build rapport with girls then try singing well-known songs and if you can sing funny songs all the better. Try and make it a way of enhancing the social occasion and increasing interaction rather than it being a distraction where everyone has to sit quietly and listen before they can go back to talking.
