Hey guys,

I recently bought a black true religion leather jacket. It seem like a good idea at the time but now I'm starting to regret it. Reason being is, I never own any leather jacket before and I have no idea how to match it.

Here is the jacket:

I found that a dark red t-shirt match fairly decent. But I'm having difficulty with the jeans or any other type of pants. What about a hoodie underneath? Or perhaps a button up dress shirt?

Another this is, in what location/settings are leather jacket acceptable? Considering this is a near $600 jacket, wearing this to a movie date seems.... Maybe over the top?

My clothing history haven't been so great, but I'm currently trying to upgrade but still finding difficult. Still haven't found my 'style'.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

$600 is way too much unless your rich or that jacket is gonna give you BJ's.

find your style, which should be congruent with your personality, before you start dropping mad coin on a random and sundry collection of metro shit from non-sense GQ promo's.

Black matches everything except shades of brown.

Yeah, black is known as a 'neutral' colour. Goes with anything really.

Though the best is 'monochrome'. That is all one colour, or shades of the same colour.
So an all black outfit look awesome.

$600 is too much if you can't really afford much more. I could have bought you a whole outfit for that money. In fact, that would be my advice, buy more clothing. Experiment.

It is better to have a wardrobe of clothes, than one expensive outfit you wear all the time.

I was at the Guess store yesterday and they had a leather jacket just like that one for only $99. And it was really soft leather too, not the cheap stuff. I ended up going with another jacked of the same style, but with black synthetic material (not fake leather). It was even less expensive. I got an entire outfit, including leather shoes, for half of what you paid for that jacket. Not trying to make you feel bad bro, but just illustrating what's already been said in previous posts.

I like black/grey colors, but I'm also not a "leather guy". Leather jackets are in style again, but it takes a lot to pull off that look. I personally wouldn't rock it with really BLUE blue jeans, but maybe a darker ones or gray ones. If you go with black pants you might start to look like a biker or goth, so be careful with too much black. You could wear a white, grey, or black t-shirt with it too, possibly even some crazy vibrant colored graphic t if you wanted as well, for more of a peacocking look.
