OK! Here's the deal kids.

To anyone who's ever had close female friends, they'd likely already know this.

1) For the vast majority of women, looks do matter. HOWEVER, they aren't the end-all-be-all, nor do they trump everything else. In short, looks don't matter to women anywhere near as much as they do to guys. The guys who do believe they matter to women above all else are merely projecting their insecurities/shallowness onto women.

2) Women will more often than not go for the average looking guy who is fun, engaging, funny etc (your socalled DHVs) over a 'hot' guy who has little to nothing else to offer other than his looks. This happens more often than you think. In fact, I have female friends who date guys they intially weren't physically attracted to (though not repulsed by) but gave the dude a chance based on some set of redeeming features or feature they'd found intriguing.

3) Lastly, if you believe looks trump all and you aren't considered traditionally good looking, you'll project that reality to the outside world. Most people, particularly women will intuit that you're insecure/unsure of yourself (not knowing why you're this way) and will by nature be repelled by that energy you carry. In other words, the lesser attractive guy who projects confidence will have more success than the model-looks kinda guy. Remember that the majority of women are hit on thousands of times before they reach their mid 20s. Most have experiences with the 'hot guy' and often they discover he has little to offer in the end if his looks are his bread and butter to wooing women, so-to-speak. On the flip side, if you're downright ugly/unattractive be prepared to get tested more by women particularly when you're projecting confidence. Its in her nature to wonder why this guy is acting out of his place in society (e.g., her thoughts may be "how dare he speak to me...to even think he can have a girl like me HOW DARE HE!") so such a guy will far more likely face more congruency tests to determine if he's the real deal.

Bottom line, looks are definitely not the end-all-be-all for women. I am considered traditionally good looking, I've been working out for 20 years and am asked on the regular if I compete (all natural) - none of this matters if I'm not willing to get out and engage women. I also hold a graduate level degree in counseling psychology. I have what DHVs up the wazoo but none of it matters if I buy into the reality that one particular aspect of a person is all that ever mattered (at least in the beginning). Society imposes all sorts of limiting beliefs on us from a tender age. If we allow those beliefs to continue taking hold of us it will certainly impede our ability to make our dreams into reality.

I have never heard of Enrique Igelsias being known as smart or funny? Celeb images don't fit with real people.

Some women find him attractive, others don't. There's the added factor of social approval/status that adds to his perceived level of attractiveness. Even grotesque looking bodybuilders may appeal to some women because they have a whole gathering of followers (not unlike a chiefton/tribal leader in a village would have); of course to a small minority of women those types of physiques are considered highly attractive.

As I said many times before, looks DO matter but they are not everything. Also looks make up more than what you look physical body. How you dress and even act as well as what you express with your body language all have an effect on your looks. If I approach a girl with a used tshirt, with slouching over, what do you think my chances she is going to be interested compared to wearing a clean tshirt and me standing up?
