Idk I'm not too sure about that consistently working. I feel like beach time is girl time unless they have it in their mind that they want to be hit on. Bitch shields go up super quick when one's in "girl time" mode. Maybe an indirect approach would be best, but like a "have you seen a volleyball that rolled this way?" or something like that, like you're looking for something. Then saying that they look fun and taking them on an instant date?
Nothing ever works consistently and no one ever bats a 1000. Bitch shields are unavoidable. We guys get it all the time, so its no different if its on the beach or girls night at the club, its all part of the process. Fact is, us men are awesome, phenomenal creatures .. but we cant mind read

lol so the only way we know if you are friendly or not is by approaching. The "girl time" spiel is the same argument when girls say they go to clubs "just to dance" lol. (Cmon, 3-4 hrs getting all pretty and dolled up but you dont want attention? yea right)
Sorry not buying it - youre on a beach wearing next to nothing, glowing with oil in the sun and just want "girl time"? haha lets be adults, girls want the attention. Its just HOW that attention is delivered.
Im a strong believer in the phrase, "Actions speak louder than words". Its not really about what you say but how you say it and the body language. With my approach earlier, I had to do/say something over the top to break them from their conversation in a cool funny way to then get them into talking to me. By engaging but not really engaging (not fully acknowledging them) I just about crept into their comfort zone.
