Alright, texting HB8 who I'm 80% sure is into me. have an ongoing joke with her, I say "think we better have a sit down, you free for a drink tonight" me
"Are you asking me out on a date" her
"Mm could be" me
"Your maybe asking me on a date?" her
"You're*. Yea, I am"me
"Wow [My name])" her

What the f*** do I say back to that??

Yea grammar nazi was a response to dig earlier. Didn't actually say better say yes part, just the but in the speech marks. Meh, still learning!

Who cares, ask her out again. Not right away next time u two talk but don't be reactive. It may be a logistical thing (e.g., she has other plans, is tired etc..), or doesnt feel comfortable enough around you yet. Persistence is everything (unless she tells u to eff off).

Shit I'd say:
"are you asking me out on a date"
1) "silly, I'd rather you just bring over a bottle of wine"

2) "you have options, I'll buy you a drink tonight or you can buy me drinks for a week"

3) "no my 30 closest friends are coming along, and my grandmother... she's a mood killer"

4) 20 minutes later... "did you say something?"

those are just off the top of my head to get you thinking on a better track. Either give a response that isn't serious or be elusive and change the subject but don't answer her question, she's testing you.

What happened in the initial interaction?

You're best off dropping all attempts at text "game" and working from first principles

If you do that you've got a much better chance of success.
