OK so been texting a girl last night but after last text I havent heard from her for a while

The thread and timings are below - the words I chose had no particular meaning, I just went with things that were around me at the time (I was eating a dessert, there was an article on medieval royality in a paper and they were wearing velvet and i was watching an action movie on TV with lots of explosions)

Me:Hi Hilary, was nice to meet you yesterday, I enjoyed the banter, makes a change from most commuters
Her (6 hours later): Hey, haha yea it was good to break the monotomy of silence how are you today?
Me (2 hours later): Doing good and feeling playful Whats the first thing you think of when you hear the word .... dessert
Her (2 minutes later): Hmm - tasty
Me (20 minutes later): Guessing you have a sweet tooth You can do better than that though, try to be more descriptive. OK next word ... midnight
Her (20 mins later): Haha correct :p velvety
Me (10 minutes later): Velvety - interesting, that has meaning in our dreams. Last one & then ill let you fire one back at me, only one though so make it good Last word is .... explosive

Thats it, heard nowt since about 9.50pm last night. So I know that I made a mistake in sending one message back too quickly - didn't mean to do it was just automatic for some reason. Showed the text stream to a female friend of mine and she asked what the meaning of velvet was in our dreams - it represents sensuality apparently (didnt know this when i chose the word). My friend said she thinks I scared her off as it is too close to sex. Am wondering if when I said it means something in our dreams she might have gone and looked it up online and been scared off.

So what do people think, have I fucked this one up royally or am I just being impatient, if I have ballsed up what should be my next move - I might as well take the opportunity to try and salvage it, if nothing comes of it at least ill get experience.

I get this too, texts back and forward and then all of a sudden a stop.

I'm thinking of texting her today (been around 20 hours since my text with no reply) with something along the lines of:
me: "hey i hope you don't mind but i've got you a present"
her: "what is it?"
me: "i booked you a place on a workshop at the college, its on texting... i thought you could do with the help cos you suck at replying don't worry i'm coming on the course with you it seems like something fun to do"

however i'm pretty convinced it is an AFC response... thing is I am really attracted to this girl and in danger of one-itis and is the too needy?

I need a text game opener to get this girl back on my side. we'd arranged to do something before she went away on holiday for 2 weeks and she got back 2 days ago. So how has it fizzed out over the two weeks?

She's not investing much, meaning she's bored. This is the problem. Look at the length of your texts and the length of hers. You are much more eager to talk to her than she is to you.

How would you be able to fix this? Get her to invest. Ask her slightly deeper questions, start a roleplay.

"Let's fly to the moon, you build the spaceship, I'll bring the wine."

Also, I personally never start a text with "It was nice to meet you" or "I had a great time yesterday" blah blah bullshit. Assume you know each other on a deeper level already and immediately begin your roleplay or whatever.

You tried to be playful here, but in the end you were just try-hard. You were investing investing. She wasn't.

Wait a day and send a random text "Still alive?" or something vague. See how she responds, then get her to invest a little, then set up a date.

Yeah i agree, too much investment is bad, because you she will think that you dont have many options of meeting other girls and two it make you seem desperate and too willing to get her approval. Try by teasing her or saying some like your so that geeky girl, I bet you watch the big bang theory, in a humourous way.

If she doesnt invest much in you, dont invest much in her. Until she has something interesting to say. Ask her unique questions, like what is your biggest passion or What was the coolest thing you did as a kid?
