| Does anyone do this? I'm kinda tempted because at the minute I only go out once a week with friends straight after work and get absolutely trollied usually. They're good mates but they're not what I'd classify as the "wing" types. The problem with this is that:
1) I probably look like I've come straight from work (where I work make video games so at least I don't have to ware a suit or anything like that, but still, I've been sat in an office all day).
2) They drink, so I drink, we buy each other drinks. I find drink makes it much easier to approach but I think it's damaging my game substantially. I can get pretty loud and obnoxious when I drink I've heard, I probably come accross as a bit of a drunken idiot. It also makes thinking of conversations and maintaining coversations harder, I usually end up saying something drunken and stupid. A biggie is that it makes me less logical and analytical and more emotional about things, I take failure and rejection much harder and it can affect my whole night, and usually end up just getting depressed about my ex.
3) Another problem is that a lot of the guys I go out with I also work with, one is my boss (although he's a very cool guy and is actually one of my best mates) and subconciously I think I don't want to embarass myself infront of them since I have to see them nearly every day. It probably comes back to that evolutionary reason for fear of rejection where you're more afraid of everyone else finding out (although I know it's B.S., they'd have forgotton about it the next day).
4) They often steal sets. Like I've said, they're not wings, so we haven't discussed "rules" or anything like that. A couple of the guys are clearly physically more attractive than I am, I'm not ugly or anything like that but I'm only 5'8'' with a slender build. Nightclubs are notorious for being "it's all about the looks", men do it and women do it, they judge purely based on physical appearence because the music's loud, they're drunk, you're drunk, you don't really care about the person's interest in movies or music and whether they match yours. So when the blonde haired, blue eyed, 6'3'' dude rocks up who hits the weights most days it's pretty hard to compete.
5) One night a week isn't enough. If I haven't pulled in that one Friday night then that's it for another week, adds pressure.
Wow, that post was longer than I was expecting it would be, guess I just had to get it off my chest. Anyway, what do you reckon? Should I do it, and can I do it without looking like a weirdo?
