can't do suggested day for date. how to try again?

Asked a girl out, but she legitimately had to work. She didn't offer another date, but did keep hinting that we should meet up.

My question is what is the best method to arrange date? People say be specific, so I used "Thursday 5pm ill pick you up", but when they reject that what's the best reply to establish the dates day/time.
