I want an outside perspective on this!!!

History: We were in a deep relationship abt 5 yrs ago. She ditched me and then she came back to me a year later and i didnt take her back and that was it. Recently started talking to her again because i moved near her.

Should I have tried asking her out? I wanted to very badly but held myself back for whatever reason. But her "guess you will be... then" sounded to me like you are going to be busy doing something else then . I want an outside perspective!

Keep doing this and you will be friend-zoned. Next time tell her you are new in town and would love to take her out for dinner. The conversation seemed very formal to me. You sound like a nice guy, ask her out and take it from there.
