Does this opener really work? Saying 'how have you been?' to a girl when she is in a group? It may put the group at ease but wouldn't it freak her out? She'll say 'umm, I dont even know you' or 'you're a creep'. Has anyone used this? And if so, how did the conversation play out?

I wouldn't recommend saying how have you been to a girl who you don't know. There are good opening in the forum that you could use :)
