Hey everyone here!

Firstly, it's a pleasure to be here and I'm glad to see that the Art hasn't just vanished like the newspapers says it has.

First a little introduction.

As an asian fellow from an ultra conservative family, I have not dated or had sex, period. In fact, I have just managed to wriggle my way out of an arranged marriage with some tart I've never even met. So I concluded that having my life directed by fossilized mummies all the way from the Ming dynasty isn't the way to go.

As you can see, this has influenced my nick a little.

Currently, I have enrolled in an Australian University, and will be free from "communist" influence essentially for the first time in my life. And I intend to make the very most of it, especially since my parent are going to migrate here in a year and undoubtedly re-establish their control of my life.

Now, a self appraisal of my abilities. First, the bad.

I have no social skills whatsoever. Having friends was discouraged due to interference with studies. I am rather out of shape, and am overweight. I have no hobbies that may be considered attractive to the opposite sex.

As a result of this, I tend to slouch when I walk and I get self conscious because of manboobs and a big backside. In addition, I have no fashion sense and cannot appreciate fashion at all which may be a good thing, because I have a student's meager budget, and studies comes first after all.

To top it off, I wear those stereotypical asian nerd glasses.

These bad traits, I desperately want to change. Though, I do not know where to begin.

And so with the above in mind, I've set for the time window of a semester, I have set these short-mid goals for myself.

1. The highest priority there is: pass my course and pass with distinctions.

2. Lose weight, and build physique.

3. Open my social circle and expand network .

Thanks for hearing me out. and once again, its great to be here.

Hey, man, welcome :)
I just wanted to offer a couple of little pieces of advice that I found really effective.
First of all, the physique thing. For your slouch there's two things you can start doing. One is the Alexander Technique that Style suggests. The other is pull-ups.
Pull-ups are like the best compound exercise you could do, works your back muscles, arm muscles, abs, etc. Plus, as a bonus, they help to straighten out your spine. Wonderful, no?
Get a pull-up bar and put it up in your kitchen doorway. Then, everytime you go in or out of your kitchen, make yourself do 5 pull-ups. Eventually it'll become habit and you won't even have to think about it.

Good luck implementing your plans, dude. And good luck for the future.

I feel you man! I will try to help you the best way I can. So dont be shy to ask for help!

I have some general advice for you.

For your school I dont know if you need any help but if you do or want to speed things up. You should try some mnemonics. http://mnemotechnics.org/x/
Some speedreading technics are good too.

When it comes to loose weight. There are tons of shit all over the place. But one thing they dont teach in any expensive course is that you can loose weight while sleeping. Make sure you freeze some when you sleep. If you can get your room to about 17-18 degree celsius. You should do good. Dont try to run off the fat. You should have a high metabolism instead.

The last piece of the puzzle you should do great with this forum.
But I have one advice for you. Self awerness really did it for me. It does not matter how much material you have if your not awere of when to use it. That happened a lot to me.(Fuck I should have done/said that instead and so on) I have practice this using meditation. For example being awere of every bit of food I eat during a dinner. Competing with myself and see ''witch one'' of me eats the most food. The awere me or the automatic me.

I had a simular problem with my parents for a while. So I really feel I want to help you dude. Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I think that these are going to be really helpful, especially Mnemonics. An improved memory is always useful after all. As for the pull ups, I'll be substituting them with dips for now. We all know how small student housing can be.

And once again, thanks for the help.
