I'm reasonably new at this whole thing, and i've had some success in using some of the strategies i've learned from reading these forums and such, but i'm looking to improve my game (like everyone else in here i assume)
What do you think of this as a possible approach?

A one or two set walking somewhere...
Me (pull out cell phone, walk up beside group, and pretend to be talking on it): Yeah, i'm walking beside my new girl (loud enough for target to hear it).
Me: (after pausing for response from pretend person on line) yeah, i guess she's pretty cute *smirk*(or something along those lines)
Me (hopefully after some kind of response from her): yeah, i've gotta go she's all over me...

Then follow with some sort of introduction

I think it could possibly work, and its definitely an original way to open a set.

Well thats pretty creative but I dont see it as practical. Like, when they are walking by you it probably wouldnt be enough to stop them, especially because you are talking on the phone - not to them. Its like the catstring theory in a way, your not giving them enough to interact with. I see it as the same thing as giving them a compliment when they walk by. Theyll just take it and go unless you follow it up. I dunno man, I could be wrong, its worth a try.

haha, I like it. The only downside is how much of a creep you will look like if she takes it the wrong way. I would try it while near a girl I had already chatted with.

i've got a have a cell phone one i've been working on

in a seated area like a bus or train

i take out my cell dial the number of a wing, and while it's ringing seem like somthing has caught my attension about her and ask "where did you get those/that ..." let her awnser and politly say "oh... one sec" then your wing starts talk to you about a girl/guy he/she's breaking up with, state your "feeling" and transiton into "ok but your still coming to... (an event or club in the future)... ok cool, laters man"
(the phone conversation lasts about 10 sec)
(i figure it would work better with a wingwoman)

you hang up

after that the options are

1. relationship advice about friend
2. continued on about the item- "i've seen those around alot, or i've been meaning to get a pair of them but.. (make sure the item is unisex) and then into relationship adviceabout friend's situation.

it's worked twice

i figure that the comment while the phone is held up shows her that you are interested, but have a time frame and also draws her attension to you befor you have the converstaion that she is supposed to listen in on
