i agree with the reply that mentioned eye contact, eye contact is crucial in a club environment, you can do so much with just a look, i can think of a few instances were i've given a girl a certain look and turned and walked away to dance or hang out in another area and they have actually approached me (im not saying make derek zoolander faces, the girl just needs to sense that their is something behind the look that you give her) when i know im going to a club or dance party, i usually roll with a few girl-friends and dance with each of them making it clear that im not with either of them exclusively (dhv, preselection), other girls in the place that are interested usually notice and approach me through out the night

What are the best free resources to learn how to dance?
You sig says U of Mich. Try a ballroom dancing class at your school ( I SHIT YOU NOT!). Learn some basic ballroom and it is transferable to other type of dancing. Learning how to lead a dance partner can also work for extracting etc. Also it works great for later in life when dancing at friends weddings.

If you have rhythm problems: some schools have Hip hop aerobic classes. You'll improve your rhythm in some the best scenery around.

I think I should learn how to dance better. I might invest in some classes
