Women love this, any fool can pay for dinner. But how many men can actually cook dinner. It's a great first date. You have them in your element ( your place) you don't have to worry about the invite over after you go out.

I disagree about a first date idea. If there is enough rapport at that point, sure. But if you don't, it's your element as you've said. She might not be too comfortable.

Overall though, cooking dinner is showing care and value. Only positive in my eyes.

It's not about the cooking, it's about the idea behind it. Dude when I was younger and couldn't cook at all, I'd often order some dishes from a Italian place from accross the street, throw it in a pot, and let it simmer just before the target came to my house.
