I live in Colorado and every weekend I'm up in the mountains not only tearing it up with my awesome snowboarding skills
, but practicing my game, so I can give you some good advice.
If you are going in the singles line, it is the perfect opportunity to meet lots of hot girls, but since you get stuck into random groups your chances of ending up next to them aren't in your favor. But it does happen occasionally, so don't worry, there will be chances. If you don't end up next to any HB's, make small talk with the people you are sitting next to, it's good practice. Start a convo with something like "Hey guys are you cool with me putting the bar (foot rest) down? I'm a snowboarder and without it I think my foot might fall off". Smile, be friendly (not too friendly, lol) and ask them questions like "How long are you guys up here for?" or "How's the snow in X part of the mountain?".
More importantly, if you do find yourself next to some HB's you should use a standard opinion opener (situational openers work well too). I usually pull out my phone, pretending I received a text, and ask them something like, "Okay guys, I need an outside opinion on something. My friend here . . ." and go on to your opener. Put lots of C&F in there, and if the conversation ever dies (it shouldn't if you stack openers, tell stories, and ask them questions - everyone likes to talk about themselves) just put your headphones in (if you listen to music while you board) and continue looking at your phone, texting or something. Sometimes they re-initiate the conversation, sometimes they don't, but it's really good practice nonetheless.
You probably aren't going to number close on the lift, so if things are going well, ask them if they want to hit up some runs with you. The worst they could say is "No thanks", and in that case just say "Alright, have a good day". Ask them this when you are close to the top, to avoid uncomfortable silences that may accompany a "No thanks". If she says yes, make sure you don't lose her if you're faster, and do some cool tricks to show off your awesome skills
. Then after the run say something like, "That was fun, you're a lot better than I originally thought you were. Oh dang, I actually have to meet up with my friend Lauren soon, so maybe I'll catch up with you later." Then, right as you are about to leave, turn around and say something like, "Hey let's exchange numbers in case we want to meet up later today" and # close.
If you are with friends, the best place is in the lift line because there are always HB's around you. Just be the center of attention, the leader of your friends, and when the time comes turn slightly and ask them if they can help you and your friends out with something (opinion opener). On the lifts, do the same thing, make your friends laugh and any HB's next to you will probably laugh too if they are listening (because laughter is contagious). People will laugh at the stupidest things if others think it's funny, so just make sure your friends enjoy your humor and others will too (unless it is the stupidest joke ever, lol). Then ask them some opinion openers and get them to come on some runs with you. You can later say you're going to stop for lunch and have her join you, and voila, instant date!
