So I went on this date the other night and have a few questions.

Near the end of our meal, she says "When the waiter comes back, just tell her to put it on two seperate bills." Well I had planned on paying and replied with, "Nah, I got it." She again said no, no I need to pay for my meal", and I answered her with bringing up the last time we had eaten together at some fast food place..."No, I should pay for your meal. Last time we went out to eat you (embarrassingly but she insisted) spotted me $3 dollars. Now I'm just gettin' you back times 10 " And she was like, "uh ok." It really seemed like she wanted to pay for her meal but I wasn't about to let that happen!

I was just curious as to if her wanting to pay for her own meal is an IOD.

I'm not asking y'all if she likes me or anything stupid like that. I just want to be aware of IODs so I don't make mistakes the next time.

Another question. We ate dinner for around an hour and a half together. I'm not hard of hearing but within that hour and a half I said what/pardon me/I'm sorry? when I didn't hear her like THREE TIMES; that is it! and on the last one she said "Are you hard of hearing or something?" That bothered me a little bit because I only said it a few times. WTF...so I responded back with, "No, you just aren't speaking clear enough." I didn't say it in a normal tone; so she kept talking. I was wondering if this was an IOD or maybe she was letting me know that I needed to get closer to her or some shit? Some wierd shit test...

I definitely made up for it though on the way out because she knew the girl who seated us (who was ASSURINGLY giving me some strong ass IOIs) and we chit chatted with her for a little bit and she told the girl she didn't here the last thing she said and I butted in saying, "ARE YOU HARD OF HEARING?" and she got a fucking kick out of that!

But back on to what I was saying! Are these some definite IODs or maybe just a shit test? Thanks in advance for the help!

You say it was a bad date, but she wanted to see me the next day, you can't just judge that it was a bad date from the one thing I told you, because other than that we had a great conversation.

No, this was not a shit test. Unfortunately that thing about paying for dinner, paying for movie tickets, all that "gentleman" stuff that I was also brought up with, it is of no use at this stage.

How could you have handled the situation better? Be non reactive. Say Ok, and be done with it. She wanted to pay, let her pay! The fact that you insisted on paying made the situation awkward, and a situation is only as awkward as YOU make it, remember that please. I have fucked up several times with a girl, but next time treated it like it never happened, and we were back in comfort zone.

You really should have been a man and let it go, be like "OK I'm comfortable with that." If YOU are comfortable, she will be. But really, you shouldn't have been paying for her in the first place.

Additionally by paying for her meal you have set a precedent and now she can expect you to always pay! I will often times say "I will get dinner, you can buy the drinks at the club", or vice versa...Just keep it casual.
