Moving to a new country

Hey guys, gonna be moving to England for study in a couple months. Anyone ever moved there to live for whatever reason? And to those that live there....what advice can you give me for fitting in? I'll be studying in Manchester to be more exact.

I've spoken to many people and they told me quite contradicting stories, such as how racist English people can be, but on the other hand that England is full of immigrants so I won't feel alienated.
