Hi guys,
I am looking to develop my voice, projection and tonality. Its is not presently bad but I want to be ably to give good talks not just for PUA but I think this would be useful life skill.

Could you suggest some good programs? Ideally something with Audio CD or DVD too to demonstrate exercises.

Thanks,

SML

There's a lot of videos on YouTube from voice coaches on this matter.

Join Toastmasters International, a public speaking club where dues are dirt cheap. I think it was something like $5 a month paid in 6 month intervals. I made it to Competent Communicator. They teach you how to eliminate nervous tics and filler words like, "umm, ahh, uhh", stuttering and the like.

Another path is to take singing/vocal lessons to control your voice. Chicks love a guy that can sing. I like karaoke myself. It helps learning to sing FOR people.

Agreed that Toastmasters can be a great place to learn these skills. We also often recommend finding videos of very skilled actors or public figures and studying them as role models. Not so you can copy them, per se, but just to notice what it is that makes them effective.

Most of us simply have not had skilled communicators as role models in our lives.

There are many more ideas along these lines. Hope this helps.

Hey guys,
Thanks a million for your replies :D. yeh so they have lots of toastmasters in London so I will certainly check them out. Still to check out neil struass but personally think something like voice development is better learnt when others are there to give feedback so toast master is looking like the winner.

I have also been looking up acting or stage voice classes. Will let you know how that search goes and ofcourse if you know any good performance courses (I am willing to spend around £150 ish ) then let me know.

Thanks,

Social Magnet.

Read 'Freeing the Natural Voice' by Kristin Linklater. Amazing book.
If you're really serious about cultivating a free, dynamic, expressive voice then you should probably invest in some Alexander Technique lessons with a certified instructor as well, in order to increase your awareness of how you use your body.
Remember, speaking/singing is a physical act - the state of your voice is a reflection of how you habitually use your whole system.
