i had an awul lot of spare time last year and in that time i read:
The Bible (Cover to cover)
The Koran
The Bhagavad Gita
Way of the Dhamma
The Secret Doctrine (Vol I & II)
Considering our culture and its values are largely based on these texts (or its variants) you'd be awfully surprised what you learn from reading these texts and have a better idea of how politicised religion is...
this is all tied in with Inner Game...
I'm reading "The Power of Now" and "How to Win Friends and influence people" at the moment, may heed your advice and just give these a read.

Toronto is a large city, filled with expats. There will be tons of groups of people meeting, centered around common interests. Young Professionals, Young Video Game Players, Young PUAs, Young Volley Ball Players. There are ways to meet people besides bars and clubs, you should be using all of them.
Alright man first on the agenda, making some god damn friends!! I shall return. I have an idea of what I need to do. I'm going to start talking to some of the guys at the gym in the morning see if they need help with their sets or w/e, try and establish some connections. Also going to go to the bar tonight and just scope it out. Who knows what could happen.
