I'm going to advise you against using a wing for several valid reasons so bare with me while I make a few points so you understand WHY I advise against this.
#1 When you are out during the day time or other people they are typically alone running their daily errands and things. This is easy enough to dismiss. When two people are hanging out during the day and seen talking to women this is going to put up red flags a lot faster if it was during the evening.
2. That first point aside... No one should be a wingman until they have a proven track record of getting the girl on their own. The reason for this is simple. When you are in set you have your "sticking points" or problems where you are still struggling with pickup. When you have two new PUAs in a set now we have twice as many hurdles in our path to getting the girl... follow?
I understand its a nice security blanket having your buddy there to bail you out at times and pickup the conversation but you need to learn how to be good independantly of him.
