I'm in the BDSM / Fetish scene, where we have several pub meetings every month (and also clubs, events, workshops etc). The fetish scene, while not completely promiscuous like swinging, is certainly more obviously sexually-charged than a normal (vanilla) pub outing. For this reason I'm wondering if some of the PUA methods, indirect approaches and 'showing that you're a sexual creature and not a Mr Nice Guy' will work at all. Obviously everybody in the scene is a sexual creature, we're there because we are aware of our own - deviant - sexualities.
One difference is that I almost always use situational openers e.g. 'Hi there, so I'm pretty sure I haven't seen you here before - your first time?' just because approaching girls in this environment is so easy. My question is, in general, should I be more direct with kino and what I talk about from the outset in the scene?
Thanks.

In the BDSM/Fetish club environment it's much more ok to be direct and talk openly about sex and turn-ons with a good chance of naughty playing. Be genuine and you'll get a warm welcome to the scene.
I don't think there's too much need for the traditional PUA techniques: be polite and respectful (very important in the scene), put effort in your appearance and accessories (whips and collars are a good way to engage someone) It should be easy enough to find something common to talk about and add sexual nuance to it. Ask about whether they are sub or dom for instance or in more detail about their preferences (leather, latex, play etc).
No touching without a woman's permission or you risk being kicked out.
