I'm new here and I've been hung up on a chick, but I realized the best thing for me would be to find other chicks. So for the last couple days I've been thinking about various approaches, and I've watched a few live pick-up videos. Almost everything I've read and seen just looks fucking stupid to me. Asking a girl a question about the local area, commenting on something she's wearing, they all just seem so scripted and pointless. I want to do a different approach, but I also don't want it to come across as contrived.

For me I would want to do something funny and different. The best opener I've come upon would be to say something out of the blue like 'Hey do these shoes make me look like Ryan Gosling?' I would also consider doing real cheap pick-up lines and seeing if it makes her laugh. 'Hey have you ever been to India...I bet I could get In-da-ya.' Basically play it by ear and not give a fuck about being shot down.

I guess what I want to know, who has done these kinds of openers and what has been your success rate?

If you can find it, look up stuff by a pua called Craig. I saw him on David Deangelo's seminars a few years ago but he goes for the high-energy, upbeat openers, and he also does funny cheesy lines for humor which is always good.

I have an issue with canned stuff as well. Sometimes it feels forced and unless i'm in a really high mood I won't use it, otherwise my body language will seem unnatural.

I game mostly at college, which is sometimes easier because it's not always cold approaching so you can open with ANYTHING so find something about her you're actually interested in.

Example: I like cell phones and new technology, so last week I saw an 8.5 outside my class with one of those Galaxy Note phones. The thing is massive and I just asked her what it was, and questions that I genuinely wanted answers to like does it feel weird to hold to your head, is it good for watching movies, etc... and bam, im in.

No need to be a dick about it. I'm just looking for some friendly advice. I don't think introducing myself would be the best approach. It could lead to a conversation but I just don't see it.

What's wrong with the Ryan Gosling thing? I thought it was funny. It's one of the few openers I read that I thought could work.

Here you go man. This is the exact seminar I was talking about. Just watch the whole thing, there's some really good ones in there and really ballsy ones too. He doesn't always exhibit the BL you need but hopefully you can come up with that easily.

Actually, "Hi; my name is..." is the best opener. The other one is "Hey; I saw you walking by and thought you were really cute. My name is..."

When you open like this, you're demonstrating EXTREMELY HIGH VALUE. You don't care about impressing anyone, nor do you feel the need to have an excuse/reason or corny pick-up line to talk to a girl. THIS IS WHY THESE OPENERS ARE SO POWERFUL.

Think of Hollywood movies or a chick series like Sex and the City. The really attractive guy characters almost always open like that BECAUSE THESE OPENERS ARE VERY COOL TO GIRLS.
