Conversation between me and a waitress (HB 10) at pizza hut. Had 3 friends with me:

Waitress: Hi I'll be your waitress today *big smile* what can i get you?
Me: Hey, i haven't seen you before! What's your name?
Her: Sally, haha you have to answer my question now.
Me: I'll have a diet coke, my name's crowdude btw.
Her: Thank god! See those guys over there? They're totally drunk. I couldn't handle another alcoholic.
Me: Haha oh god yeah I can see! The dude can barely sit down!
Her: Yeah i know. I'll go get your drinks.

*she comes back with the drinks and i notice a plaster on her hand*
Me: Owch, how'd you manage to do that?
Her: Oh I just cut it while using a knife. Hey! Is your friend eating a mcdonalds sandwich?!
Me: Erm no... he just found it on the table, i swear. Would I lie to you?
Her: Haha yes, but don't worry, I never saw it.

*bit more chat and we left*

Did i have a chance with her?
How could I have improved?
Should I have asked for her number?

P.S. I don't care about the waitress, this post is just so I can learn from my mistakes.

No...don't do this, man. You made small talk with a waitress, if you try to analyze it and create some scenario where you end up takin her to dinner afterwards you will go nuts.

What's with the faces when transcribing a real life conversation? Did she actually stick her tongue out?

But I agree with the above poster, don't over-analyse this. I am from England but it's my understanding that waitresses in the US (making an assumption you're from america by your use of American spellings) will be more friendly in order to get a tip.

No guys I definitely wasn't planning on taking her to dinner. I just wanted to number close and then meet up at a club or gig or something. I'm from england btw so there's no real proper tip system here.

I just felt like we had some sort of chemistry because she was volunteering conversation of her own (like the drunk guy at the other table). but yeah, she may have just been acting nice to get a tip. who knows haha, i'm a cheap studrnt who cant afford to give tips anyway.

This post is just for a learning experience, I'm not thinking about that waitress anymore, I just want to know how to improve if a similar situation arises.

And sorry about the emoticons during the conversation, i guess i'm too used to using them.

waitresess used to be nice so I usually just go direct with them, if they are down its good, if not bo problem, at least I know for sure.

yeah i guess my main problem is closing haha. i'm always either underconfident or im afraid to mess up the rapport that i've built.
