Hey guys..

Quick question, and I'm wondering if any one else experiences this.. I been working on myself for a while now, and I've improved in confidence quite a lot. I have changed who I am for the better, BUT..

Whenever I hang out with old friends, I find myself reverting back to my previous self where I don't have the self assurance and newer stronger personality I once had. I feel like I am different around new people that don't know me, but back to normal when I am with old friends.

Does anyone else have the experience of changing yourself for the better but suddenly reverting backwards again when you're with people in your past? If so, why is that, and how can you get over that?

it's simple... your friends know you as 'that person' who didnt know PU but now you do and you have made new friends who know you with PU. Around my really old friends i'm just dan... who watches wrestling and reads comics but to my newer friends I am known as a party person who loves to interact... both are great sides to me but most of the time when you talk PU to older friends they dont want to know.

Most of us experience this... you don't talk to your parents about PU so its kind of the same thing.

That makes sense.

And in this situation it's even deeper than just what you talk about. I can be super confident around really hot girls I just meet, for instance, but then I meet an average looking girl from my past in high school and I become that "shy kid" I used to be, all over again.

I feel like depending on who I'm with, my personality and who I am completely changes

yeah you become that way because they knew you as you once was... the way to break it is to be your new self with a few people and fuse the two...

For instance, the first girl in high school I ever liked but could never tell her my feelings was in my local club, she'd returned from france after a few years there and was with friends. I used to just go quiet and shy and hardly speak to her but I broke my oldself and I just stood next to her at the bar and had a chat, it was really liberation... to break the problem just be your new confident self with an older friend and it should help you fuse the two.

Definitely understand this point! But I get this with family/older people and family friends (from same culture). To all my friends both back from school and at Uni/college + when im out meeting new people I'm super extroverted. Really want to change this.
