Ive had this "sticking point" for awhile, not sure which forum to ask about it.

Im confident and funny so dont have much trouble chatting to girls/strangers but after awhile they always ask me what i do, ill avoid asking but when they ask again i have to answer. I work in Tech support as a Server admin, its a techy and boring sounding job so for the past while ive been trying to think of someway of making it sound exciting without having to get technical with it.

As is now ill answer and move on after they say "oh that sounds awesome" or whatever so its not holding me back, but id still like a better answer to give you know? anyone have any ideas?

This is easy, your job is to control something, put the emphasis on that! They probably have no clue what is you exactly do so just tell them the controlpart and leave out the sittinh on your ass eating donuts part!

I often get stuck on this too.

I hate to tell girls I just met my job, some girls will get very clingy, sleep with you and want your baby if you're doing well and they're looking for someone who will support a child. Whether you're interested in it or not, some girls do. That's how girls think. My old man pointed this out to me (and my Mum agreed!) and since then I've noticed it myself.

I just don't tell them but I brief it out. Like a pilot might just say he works in public transport, for example.

You could say, "Well, lets just say Im in the technology field, trying to be the next guy that makes millions. When I get there Ill let you know". Or something that says you are where you want to be, but you dont want to talk about it because there are other interesting things to talk about, and then ask her "what would you do if money wasnt an object?"
