Hi guys
I have realized I dont know how to dress.
Today I went to Ross (sorry cant afford better stores) to buy pants and shirts and didnt know what to buy
Can you let me know?
Right now this is the kind of clothes that I wear

would tight jeans look better on me? should they be very tight (stick to my legs) or tighter than what I am wearing now, but not too tight? what color?
what about those jeans that look faded? like some parts are faded, some parts are not?
what about shirts? what color? with stripes or solid color? what about those button things that they put on the shoulders of some shirts? yes or no?
do i tuck my shirt in or out?

I just need to know what would look good on me...went to the store and had no idea.
I am 5'5" about 140 pounds if that matters

You'll have much better luck posting this in the "Body Language, Voice Tonality and Dress" section.

Anyways, just by glancing at those two pictures, I would get some jeans that are a little more fitted such as a straight leg (my preference), but not a slim. As far as that style of shirt, I would go two ways. The first way is to get a button down that is fitted and made to be untucked with maybe the sleeves rolled slightly up or cuffs flipped outwards; the second way is made to be tucked in for a more dressy look. In regards to the shirt in the pictures, I'd for sure at least unbotton the top one or two buttons for starters.

Best advice I can give you is to try on a ton of different styles and decide on what looks best for you. Also, look to celebrities you admire, GQ and Esquire etc for inspiration.

A great blog for the basics is called Fashion Beans, I have nothing to do with it so this isn't some kind of promo for it, just that it has an amazing series on the basics of style and fashion which has helped me a lot.

The general rules (in my book) are to wear clothes which fit you well, flatter your body shape, express the identity you wish to convey and if possible act as a visual DHV in any given context.

well I personally like baggy clothing (like the pants I am wearing, which are more baggy in real life than they look in that picture)...but someone told me they look terrible and i should wear tight pants. tight things make me feel uncomfortable, I feel like I am choking.

Depends upon the image you wish to convey and also the type of chick you want to get with. Baggy might work for like a casual/skater girl or something but generally baggy is not seen as stylish and goes against most rules of 'dressing well'.

You don't have to go with the ultra skinny jeans, they are pretty ridiculous, and only work on certain body types.

Maybe just find a middleground on the tightness of your trousers (I'm English, I can't call them pants!). A good option for jeans are 'straightr leg' styles and also well fitted pairs of chinos in a variety of colors are good things to have.

Honestly...seems so plain and baggy...like you blend in with the background. Buy some colors, not like a rainbow...but try for more solid tones that aren't ....slacks.

Just from the pics.

1. Drop the cargo pants. Jeans are in style right now. Only exception is if your going to a classy event where suits or tux are required. As far as jean goes, levi's are probably the most budget jeans you can get that are in style. And fitting, you wanna go with your style. Some style requires loose fitting jeans while other like trying to pull a rockstar requires tight jeans. If your just being general, go with tighter jean that gives breathing room. Also, no need to label whore 300$ pair jeans like diesel unless your trying to pick up some gold diggers. Also, you need to realize it feels uncomfy at first, but adjustment is for the good and you have to stay with current style. I went from wearing baggy jeans and dickies to my nice fitting jeans now. Is felt weird but now, baggy pants feel awkward. Now is complete opposite.

2. Along with jeans, you can pick this up from Ross also. But a nice dress shirt and a good black tie to go with it that has interesting color. (some of the best ones I found were at ross actually). Or if not, work out and find a good fitting shirt. Avoid shirts with verticle stripes which makes you look ghetto, and plaid shirts are optional if they go with your lifestyle. Rocker, Skater, Surfer, etc... Make sure the color match. For example, don't wear green jeans with red shirt. I know this is extreme, but you get the point. Something that would be stylish is black fitted jeans with red plain shirt and black tie with black dress shoes.

3. Don't peacock! Even mystery him self said it, but just wear one interesting item and that's it. The best accessories are the ones with stories. For example, you getting a bracelet for running a cure for cancer marathon. It tells a story. If you do wear accessories, make sure it goes with your outfit. Like a pimp wearing a pimp hat, it goes with the look.

4. The best style to pull is what Brad P calls "Sexy Stereotyping" Rockstar, movie director, skater, etc... This will hands down eliminate you being awkward with style and girls that love that stereotype will be easier to hook and game. For example, I love rock music so I dress like a casual rocker (cant go crazy because of maintaining a pro image for work) and girls I talk who love rock music will bring it up and we will start building easy comfort. Girl I sarged last weekend loved System of a Down and so game just droped and we start talking about it. Now she is hating me up and saying how fun is it to hang out and she would love to get together. Is all over the connection we had about music. It does not just have to be with music though. It could be anything, like skating, dancing, etc... Warning stay away from dorky shit like Star Wars or Video games. Remember "sexy stereotyping" which is a stereotype that attracts girls, not stupid stereotyping.

5. From looking at your picture, your style is a no go. Makes you look like a computer nerd. Even on a budget you can create a interesting style. Ebay, Craiglist, and like where you go right now, Ross. This is very basic but it will help your style out without spending too much money

6. Hair, try to dodge barber shops and supercut, unless you know some that can do cool style. Usually barber shops are better then supercut and a lot cheaper and do better style. Go to a good hair stylist place and screen for girls with cool ass style. And regularly use them. I had the same girl cut my hair for last 2 years. She is also a rocker girl but she has cuts my hair in cool style where I get compliments from girl. It took me time to find her, so it was not easy. But yeah, that hair cut is 60 $. Worth it though.

7. Shoes, go for some casual or dress shoes. Stay away from tennis shoes. I usually rock my Polo, Vans, Guess, Diesel, and DC's. Each pair of shoes goes with different style. Polo or diesel with causal, Vans with rocker, DC with skater, surfer.

8. like guys posted, look at some style magazine, if your too broke, go to a store, find some interesting ones, take a pic with your camera phone or even remember the name and google it on internet.

9. Another shortcut is going to website like guess.com and looking at the look book. Just buy the exact same stuff there wearing. As you know of today, fitting clothes are in so make sure your stuff fit, if not, get it tailored.

10. Watch Crazy, Stupid, Love. The transformation in style. Is on point. You don't have to go that extreme with spending money, but is legit scene in that movie. Main thing he points out is having his clothes fit. Baggy clothes are out unless your a gangster which is a bad look for night game. Also, if you notice in that movie, there dressed up for the place they go to. Meaning, there not going to a Dive bar dress like that, there going to upscale bar.

11. IF not anything. Fitting clothes (regular t shirt and fitting jeans) are your best bet with at least one accessory. Hit the gym. You don't have get ripped, but in decent shape where you at least look like you take care of yourself. Lift weights with cardio and follow up with good diet, and you should start seeing results in couple of months. I am in good shape right now and only way to tell is that I hit the gym is if I take my shirt off. But, wearing fitting t shirt helps a lot. Especially with body language. Also, hitting the gym will save you a lot on your clothes since you don't gotta dress really fancy.

12. Don't depend on your style to be your game. Is only a "supplement." 30 % bonus I would say. You still 70% to go. I use to dress 10 times better when I had weak game compare to now. But my success rate is a lot higher now. But I still dress good and not like a slob. I dress nice. Only reason why I toned it down is because my financial situation.

13. Get permanent stuff like piercing if you can. Ears don't hurt at all. Feels like a little pinch. Getting a shot on your arm by a doctor hurts a lot more. If your casual, only do ears and nothing else. If possible, even add tattoos that mean something deep. Don't get nothing stupid that trendy. I remember those stars back from the days everyone got. There out of style now and people who have them hate them. Also, with tattoos, they don't got to be visible. In fact, is better if there hidden. More of a DHV. I have my upper back tattoo, and I will make girls jump through hoops just to see them.

Hope this helps. I know is a lot. But clothing is some your gonna have to fuck with to get right. Start noticing guys with hot girl friends and see how they dress. Especially when you go clubbing or bar hopping. Pay attention to guys with hot women. They will all have cool style without really obvious peacocking. I have came across guys who are new to pick up who over peacock. Is funny, I point those guys out and girls can tell there game plan. Mystery is legit when it comes to peacocking because it fits his style. But pick up is main stream now day thanks to all the media attention so you can't really pull that shit off no more.

Agreed, you want something dark and something a bit bright to grab the eye. Those trousers are just in the muddy in-between area and won't really do a lot for you. I personally like pink and grey and I saw another guy dressed very similarly and thought he looked good in it too. Have at least one colour that's a bit daring and mix it with something plainer so it's not TOO outlandish.

You should wear slim fit material. You're in shape so show it. What you're wairing in this pic is plain horrible.

Oh and I've read alot of jeans advice, which is good. But don't forget to buy a nice pantalon in beige, black or grey.

Oh and the finish this one off: my complete fashionista of a girlfriend looked a me five seconds straight wearing my lightblue suit with white dress shirt. It looked pretty much like this: This is very hot the forthcoming summer. Chicks love suits.
