Going out to this place called Asian Heritage Row. There are around half-a-dozen clubs here that are open on Tuesday night (my timezone's +8:00 GMT).

The place used to have great mixed crowds, but are now overrun by what we call 'rempits', a mangy, less cool version of American Harley riders. Seriously, they race on Honda Cubs and similar bikes.

Still there's the 1 in 10 group who are decent and still hang around those clubs anyway. I'm going in alert but ambivalent to the crowd. I'm still a beginner at this, so I'm gonna go for a few number-closes for the night.

Okay, so last night wasn't exactly a walk in the Great Valley (The Land Before Time reference here). As expected, the place was crowded with these mangy dudes. The woman-to-man ratio was like 1 to 10.

The club was called VR-1. It was dark, and full of these bikers. They're quite notorious for inciting trouble and harassing pedestrians wherever they go, which resulted in a police crackdown once which has more or less put a filter in the system. As always, there will always be the odd one that gets through the filter, so I was extra careful.

Wearing an orange shirt with dark jeans probably made me stand out just a bit. The club was dark, and with the flashing lights and loud music I was a peacock in a sea of ravens. I figured since I looked different than the usual crowd, and most definitely spoke their language with an accent, I'd do a tourist act.

This involved me going up to groups and saying something along the lines of, "Hey, I'm from (northeastern state), and I was wondering what was a good place to party." If you're from the northeast of Peninsular Malaysia, they'd understand that you're a little different. Obviously, the answer to my question would be 'right here', but the ignorance of a tourist is always excused.

Somehow I wonder how these guys can even get decent-looking girls with them. The guys in these groups are for the most part, guys who don't do much except smoke cigarettes, ride bikes, smoke weed, ride bikes, drink boxed wine and ride more bikes. They're usually not too friendly if you approach them on the street, but in a club, it's a different story. they weren't as unfriendly, but still not as open as some of the crowds I hung out with in the USA.

Whenever one of the ladies even began small talk with me, the dudes would be eying us like hawks. Once the dudes warmed up to me a bit, I could start teasing the ladies, and getting the dudes to laugh along as well. In one of the groups I approached, I'd be talking to one lady when the whole group would just erupt in loud cheers, and her attention would be diverted right away. I need to work on keeping attention.

I did manage to get 3 numbers last night. Not that I'd keep in touch with them. Their kind of crowd worries me.[/i]
