So there's this girl I met maybe a year ago. I never approached her because she had a boyfriend. Randomly, she's in a few of my classes and I decide to Facebook friend her. A few days ago, she broke up with her boyfriend. I don't really talk to her that much nor do I comment on anything she does. I also recently graduated so I feel like there's a 99% chance I will never see her again. It feels kind of awkward to randomly ask her out through facebook. Seems a bit cold. Also I don't have her number. How would you approach? Also how soon would you do it?

Your message is confusing in that you say she is in some of your classes, yet you also say you have graduated. Others will know more than me, but I would simply contact her to tell her you're sorry to hear about her breakup and find out what you can do to help her. See if that opens the door to communication.

I'm not so sure I'd talk to her about the breakup. You could just message her and ask what she's been up to, strike up a conversation with her then get her to hang out with you at some point. Tell her to go get coffee with you or something. Pretty simple, good luck!

Yah while I was in school like a year ago I had my first class with her. Then the following quarter I had another class with her. Then just occasionally saw her around. Then a week ago I graduated.

Don't talk about the break up. It will be like you care or stalk her. Also it DLV IMO. You also said that you never spoke to her, so it's way too creepy.

Just talk with her randomly on facebook, don't ask her out right away. But if I was you I will try to keep thing interesting and before it's get boring in the chat, ask for the # and leave. Then you will have the ball in your side and you can txt/call her later to ask her to hangout/date or whatever.

focus on making her laugh, filling her with positive vibes and then get her out and have a blast.

Stay away from emotionally ladden stuff unless she brings it up. If she does, let her vent, be the ear, DO NOT give advice, and then immediately after lift her spirits somehow.

Be genuine, trust in yourself, authenticity is the most attractive quality to a woman.

Start making your presence known around by simply talking to her like a human being. Build rapport, and then ask her out on a date.

Hey bro!
Yeah i definitely think it'll be bad idea to bring her break-up up, im like dude she hardly knows you and it'll be major creepy. So heres what i suggest go make a funny comment on some pics of her or on her status.
Be cocky, funny and different.most guys will comment on a girl's looks or something like that so id advise you to go more indirect. example : "lol thats one badass hairstyle, are you also badass? or is it just the hair? ;)"

Only then open her in facebook chat. lol a funny line i've recently adapted that works wonders and it's Facebook field tested is " I heard on the news someone checked into the pysch ward wearing only a thong and riding a goat. I'll come & get u.... BUT THIS SHIT HAS 2 STOP!!!!" that always get them cracking up, and then I just transition from there.

Heres a technique a guy called Brian Bond uses and I tell you what it's golden for facebook pick up and setting up a 'Hang out".

Take note that i dont do this unless i got some sort of REPLIES (PLURAL) from her on a picture comment or status or something. Also, make sure she knows who you are, that at least she as seen you on campus and you had at least smiled at her and got a positive response. Dont be suicidal and open like this to a completely random girl!

Start talking to her on facebook as if you was someone new in your life that you have just met. Start from ZERO. Stay out from talkin about her past relationship because you'll just get yourself into the friend zone. Be funny and make her laugh and you'll have a chance. Be like aww i hope i can make you feel better and you are gona be in the friend zone before you know it.

What exactly do you want with her? Be honest here:

-If it's a quickie then sure, you could get that, but it's going to be just rebound sex, nothing more
-A relationship? That's hardly going to happen, not in her current state, and if it happens, the outcome will not be good for you
-Build a healthy contact with her? That will be my advice here, you could escalate at some point in the future, but right now you want to keep it casual. So, don't overthink every single thing you say to her. Be yourself, not a PUA.
