PUAs the world over have hijacked the psychological construct of the Alpha male, using it to sell people on the notion that they, and they alone hold the ingredients for becoming this type of man that every man wants to be, and every woman wants to be with.

If it were truly that easy, or attainable, there would be legions of alpha males out there thanks to the PUA literature and sites like this. The reality is that being 'alpha' is, in all liklihood, a constellation of salient personality characteristics that are a result of both genetic composition and environment (environment plays a massive role in activating what might otherwise be dormant traits).

Why should you care? Well chasing something unattainable is an unrealistic and unsatisfying endeavor. It'd be more fruitful focusing on empowering yourself, heightening your own sense of self-awareness (whatever that might entail - e.g., meditation, reading insightful literature, etc.). PUAs wont tell you that the secret to attracting others is by being a confidant person. Why? They've got nothing to gain by doing so. If I simply told you to learn how to be the best person you could be, these PUA scam artists would have no claim to fame, and hence would have no following whatsoever. There are already a plethora of so-called Self-Help Gurus who've saturating this niche, selling people on the notion that they, and they alone hold the secret to a better life.

In short, I'm declaring that the word "Alpha" be replaced by something far more helpful and realistic. BECOME a more self-confidant person. When you exude confidence (not to be confused with arrogance as so many of you have done), people will naturally gravitate towards you, rather than masquerading around as an "Alpha male".

Seriously, some of you need to give your heads a good shake.

Being Alpha is attainable. Takes lots of time, and you have to be a strong person mentally. Is something that you have to be aware, think about, and little by little, you should start taking on the traits. And finally, when you become alpha, is something you don't think about anymore, is just someone who you are.

I would not be so quick to judge that gurus are trying to sell people tactics instead of being alpha. Well, they sort of are because most guys in community want the magic pill (routines, openers, tactics). But the logic behind it is, it puts newbies out there in field. And all the empty holes that are in the products gurus are selling, newbies start to experience for themselves and fill it in.

No matter how much I read, my pick up skills did not better until I start going out. And it just began to sky rocket once i hanged out with guys who were naturals.

Alpha is not a destination, or goal to be acquired. It is, rather, a cluster of personality traits that are genetically and environmentally determined. You can feign being alpha all you like, but at the end of the day you're just masquerading as something you are not.

Your success with women improved because you modeled guys who are successful with women, and through the process you've gained CONFIDENCE in your ability. It has absolutely nothing to do with believe you're "alpha". Believe it does is an illusory correlation.

Couldn't give a shit about being alpha. I just don't want to be a beta. I know plenty of non-alphas with hot GFs but these guys aren't betas either.

There's a happy medium inbetween.

Whatever. Road to self improvement will never stop. Not just to get laid, but to improve life in general. Like Tyler from RSD puts it. Age you age, you can become a chode, or be a better human being.
