honestly I used to be so paranoid that all girls are disappointed when they find out a guy works in IT but I have actually found it to be the opposite case, what I do falls under the umbrella of IT but it's not traditional IT like helpdesk sysadmin stuff... but it's very hard to explain so I started getting lazy and just saying "I'm in (industry) IT" and actually they always respond well to it I've never had an issue.
