Saying "that's exactly why I wanted to see you" gave her the upper hand. She knows by saying no she's not giving you want you want. Should have made some joke out of her being a workaholic or boring or something.
I think saying things like "I find you very attractive" is just too much too soon. That just doesn't work with my game. But everyones game is different. TBH, if a girl texted me saying I was very attractive after just meeting her I'd be a little weirded out or if not I would feel superior to the person who texted that to me.
I say things like that from a position of power though almost as if she feels that I ascribed her the trait that she's attractive. But the reason I said "That's exactly why I wanted to see you" was meant to basically mean that's exactly what the first date is for you know what I mean? Even if she said no, I still wrote her off in the end which would balance out the upper hand thing from your perspective.
