How many days notice before a date?

What would you say is too long notice before asking a girl on a date? should I talk to her 1 day before or a week? is 3 days fine if asking to meet for a cup of coffee?

I say ask her the day before or evenr the same day. If she likes you and can't make it, she'll propose an alternate time. Now if she can't make it and does not propose an alternate time, walk away. Don't push for an other time. Call back later and try again but don't push for a date. Hey, if you're really into it, push. She will give you a flake date a week from now. Those suck.
