I'm a fairly well built guy so I always give a strong handshake to another man when possible. When another guy talks about how strong your handshake is, it's always a good thing in my opinion.
Too strong of a hand shake is actually a bad thing. If they are saying something about it, it is most probably too strong.

However, with regards to females, do you think a strong handshake or a gentle handshake would convey more value to them?s
I always do a firm handshake no matter if it's a girl or guy.
how do you figure?
i have a guy at work who gives the most forceful handshakes i have ever encountered.
people always bring it up in a joking manner and he shrugs it off as if he's not trying to be strong. It definitely elevates his value in that setting in the sense that you can tell that every single guy adjusts his handshake with him to seem stronger
First off no one wants their hand to be crushed so just out of physical pain no one wants a handshake that will hurt them. Secondly too strong of a handshake can mean your too aggressive or overbearing etc. Not a good thing. To quote a CareerBuilder article:
Quote:
1. “I get it, you’re stronger than me.”
Your hand is not trying to wring all the juice from a lemon, so please don’t attempt to crush every bone in the other person’s hand—it just makes you look like you’re trying to prove yourself.
2. “Oww!”
An overeager shaker can catch the other person by surprise, so by the time the handshake starts, you’ve got one person grabbing on to four fingers. It’s awkward, yes, and painful for the person whose four fingers are being cracked.
This deals with the business handshake but never the less it applies outside of the business world as well.
