Please critique my test because I want it to be as good as possible. Regardless of if I ever do anything like this in real life, I will personally read the mystery method and see if the techniques in the book work for me. The point of this test is to determine if there is a positive correlation between pick up artist's methods of sexual attraction and female behavioral measures taken using interjudge reliability (multiple people marking down observable behavior independently and to ensure there is no bias in interpretation). If this test were to be conducted and if it turned out that there was a positive correlation, then people would take this new type of psychology very seriously.

Dependent variable- the presence of a male who has no knowledge of pick up artists techniques upon females and the presence of a pick up artist upon females.
Independent variable-the number of the following behaviors from a female that would take place between a female and a male while the female was in the presence of the male-
-smiling
-hair touching or other methods of self grooming
-laughing
-exchanging phone numbers
-kissing
-hugging
-coming within personal distance (one foot) of the male for longer than 5 seconds
(I need more of these, please help me come up with them)

Heres how it would work-- the researchers would need to randomly pick (this is the hardest part) males who would be willing to try and pick up girls. they could give the participants money for every phone number they got or something like that, to make them really try. and then they could have the pick up artists (chosen by contacting pick up artists on forums like these) go at it another day, and give them money for each phone number got as well, and then measure the differences in the number of types of behavior expressed by females. they would have to do this a LOT of times though to measure reliability and it would be REALLY hard to get males to participate in this study (they maybe could be selected from colleges or something but that is not good external validity AKA how well the study represents the overall population and not a biased part). Moreover, both the males who dont know about pick up and the ones that do would be totally aware of what they were being judged on-- this is not good. It would def. make some men nervous and perform worse than usual but i cant think of any other way to get people to flirt on command for this test. you could simply observe males in bars without even telling them anything and measure the females behaviors that way but you would be unsure of how much effort the male had put into flirting (he could simply be at a bar with his female friend). an important part of this test is the lack of emphasis on the pick up artists actual content. Were not worried about that yet-- first, we have to simply prove to the world that it works. Then we can unravel the curtain.

Why not just go out and try it for yourself? Fuck, what is with people needing scientific evidence on this stuff? Are you guys really so afraid to talk to women that you want an empirical study done before you risk walking up to a girl and saying hello?

I agree with above. And as well as that, your test isn't to the standards of testing that is required. There's far too many variables to account for.

dont confuse me with the guys that are pussies and too afraid to talk to women and just ramble on this site, im not one of them, i just came from a weekend spent at an all girls college dressed as a drag queen dancing with mad women, it was awesome, so dont think that i am deathly afraid of women because i am on this site, shit pisses me off
