Dont worry so much about peacocking frankly it's not that important, wear literally whatever you want and act comfortable in it. That's always your best bet

I like to wear a black tie with a black/grey/white button up and designer jeans.

I have 2 pieces of advice.

1. Think about who you are as a person–your ideal self. Would your ideal self where a hat to the same bar 2 nights in a row? This is only something that you can answer. Personally, I've gone for days in a row wearing the same hat, but I also have a large collection of clothing and accessories. I always get compliments on my looks, and my looks accurately reflect who I am.

2. Field-test your question. Go out tonight's a row wearing the same hat. You say that you got compliments the first night. See if anyone notices you wearing the same hat the second night. If you continue to get complements, then it is your strategy of peak talking is effective. If not, then stop wearing the hat so often.

Your question really depends on the hat, too. While a ridiculous looking hat that mystery might wear, and a sleek fedora, will both get positive responses, they will also get different responses.
