I want to preface this by saying I have no connection in any way to any kind of supplement company. I just wanted to throw this out there because it has helped me greatly.

I tend to get really uptight, especially in social situations. Some times I drink alcohol (but this isnt really a habit that I want to get into) and other times Im just nervous quiet and awkward.

Someone told me about a supplement l-theanine and they said it had a calming effect. I researched it and from what I could see there were virtually no negative side effects (because its an amino acid you just piss out any excess) and had pretty good reviews. I figured Id try it out.

It is some amazing stuff. Recently, Ive been so much more calm, even in situations where normally Id be nervous. Also it seems to make me a lot less irritable. Although I wouldnt consider myself an angry person but on occasion I have a quick temper (especially when Im driving). Since I started taking this I havent really gotten mad about any stupid little things. Another reason I like it is because even though it calms you down, you dont really feel like your in an altered state of mind (like alcohol or anti anxiety drugs do). I just wanted to throw it out there because Im not alone as far as being anxious and from what I can see this is a much safer alternative to alcohol xanax or something like that.

As I said before Im totally not trying to sell anything or convince you to take any supplements. I just wanted to put this out there to see if it could potentially. Also I was just curious if any of you all had tried this stuff before.

You piqued my interest, checked it out and it's pretty cheap too. I think I'm gonna try it out.

I think its having a great negative effect on your mind..

Your going to form a mental addiction to this stuff and start to feel like you need it just to be "yourself"

Remember, you win some and lose some. Its effecting you negatively some how, your just choosing to ignore it for now, until it becomes a big problem.

But if the stuff helps you get better experiences I'd say it's worth it for anxiety, I mean it would be just another method of getting in a better state of mind. And I don't think it's classed as an addictive substance, seems pretty harmless compared to any anti-depressant. Read up about it on wikipedia and still think it's worth a try, if it really works it would be a pretty useful aid studying too.
