I can't get myself to do a canned opener! I wanted to say "Hey, can I get your opinion on something real quick? Would you rather break up with someone over the phone or in person? I'll tell you why I'm asking in a second". It's wierd because I could strike up a conversation by getting help on buying a movie for someone or helping me buy a book but I can't get myself to do that opener. Any advice for how to overcome this?

Best advice I got was focus on the process instead of the results. Do it in a fun playful manner and make it funny/entertaining
