I have been 'dating' a girl for the past month, a girl i have known for two years. We have had our issues but nothing has ever come out of it. We didnt talk for a few months until the last month.

For the last month we have hung out and kinda started again. I havent kissed her yet but we have been flirting a fair bit and some touching etc. I guess I havent had the guts to take it further as the last time I tried, a year ago, she placed me in the LJBF zone (although she never used that phrase).

Anyways today she sends me a text wanting to call me later. I said fine I just asked whether its "good or bad news". She said she doesnt know. She sent me a text saying that she "really liked me...quite a bit actually".

I then asked her why she would have thought it wasnt a good thing? she replied with "because its taken us two years to be good friends and she didnt wanna ruin it".

Two questions

a) what do you say when a girl just comes out with "I really like you" line (without me saying anything or even doin anything)
b) is she saying we are friends and thats it? if so, why the fuck do you just come out with the "i really like you line"?

Sorry - I just never been in a position where the girl has come out with that line first - out of the blue.

This statement gives you power since you never directly admitted you like her back, but still implies that you might have some interest so it gives her a reason to continue chasing you. I wouldn't have questioned her about it the way you did, but either way, it seems like you're good to go. Ask her out.

2. Tell her in a firmish to joking manner (whatever feels right

From there your on your own and will have to callibrate from her responce, but try it sometime. It has worked wonders for me.
