It wasn't terrible. I would pay more attention to what they wrote on their profiles, otherwise you'll get called out on it. For openers keep them short and to the point. Write your own openers on the spot. Don't Nuke it! lol

Example: This one loved to travel. A shared passion.

Also, you kind of indirectly showed your intent with "meet me" and the date part. Even though this is an online dating site, you still have to play the game. Remember to branch off from the opener as well.

So basically make it less personal and make them qualify themselves?

The guy who told you you messed up for getting her to qualify you is a retard. You want to have her qualifying you, you did good work.
