At a bar near the bartender and i see this hb7 behind me dancing half-heartedly. so i turn around and ask "Are you trying to mime." She gave me a look that said she was offended and put off. She then turned around to whisper in my her friends ear no doubt telling her what i just said. After that i felt i couldn't approach he anymore so i stayed away.

Now i know the neg was way to offensive to begin with but I hear being a charming dick in bars get a girls attention. so How could i have softened the opener or what could i have said afterwords to flip the situation?

Neg openers should usually be reserved for 9's and 10's.
If you neg a girl that is around 6.5 or 7 or lower straight off,
you risk the chance of negging a woman who has
lack of confidence or insecurities. I usually try not
to neg on things like dancing or singing or
anything like that as is, because it is something that
a lot of people already have insecurities about.
Also always make sure if you are giving a neg to have
a cocky playful smile on your face. That way she knows
you are intentionally fucking with her because your not
afraid or intimidated to do so. The playful smile is the trick
to neg's; Without it you just seem like you are being rude.
As for a recovery for honestly offending someone, I wouldn't
even bother. It is to much work to try and get the comfort built
from there, as well as you risk the chance of looking AFC by
trying to recover from something you probably shouldn't have said.
And as for being a charming dick in a bar, A lot of women get offended easily
or cocky when they are drinking. Now cocky funny even though most
think is the same and isn't is a good approach when in a bar. Remember, when negging keep the playful cocky smile.

thanks for tips. Your right I was not smiling when i gave the neg. Plus that girl was with 5 of her friends there and she was the bottom of the totem pole in looks. So i should have suspected that she was insecure and the neg was not needed.

Well, you never said anything about the friends before that where more attractive. I would say in that situation, you should have playfully negged the hotter friends and built rapport with the other one while gaining acceptance from the alpha female of the group. The hot friends will encourage the least hottest to go after the guy that shows interest. This is basic female behavior. They feel if the one that is the lowest one on the totem pole get some action it was because they encouraged them to and can demand more respect from the group because they where right. This is a primal battle for the hierarchy type situation that women play. Although I would suggest, go after the alpha female of the group every time, it is a lot more fun and easy if you do it right.
