| Offline | | New to MPUA Forum | Joined: Mon Apr 12, 2010 1:43 pm Posts: 11 | | The scenario is this: I live in a small block of flats where everyone stays very distant from their neighbours but there are 2 gorgeous girls living on the same floor as me and I can't help but notice them. However, it seems they can't speak much english, all I've heard are "hi" and "thank you". I heard it through the grape vine that they're Latvian and if I were to set about learning their language I would feel slightly obsessed.
What do you suggest? How do you deal with a language barrier and a culture of avoiding your neighbour?

For example about how they like the neighbourhood or other simple questions they've probably heard before. If they plan to stay, they need to learn anyway and you can gesture your way through the language barrier. Flirting is mainly body language anyway.

It may even help as she'll find it fun as she doesn't know exactly what you mean. Just pretend everything you say is perfect and talk to her like you're expecting her to react a certain way, and she won't have a choice but to react that way since she can't understand anything else but your tone, body language and facial expressions.
